The Owandy-RX AC was the alternating-current version of the Owandy-RX intraoral generator, available as a wall-mounted unit (upper or lower bracket) or as a mobile unit on a cart. A sturdy, vibration-free device compatible with film, digital sensors and phosphor plate systems, it equipped thousands of practices before being withdrawn from the catalogue in August 2026 in favour of the high-frequency DC version.
Step-by-step wall installation of the Owandy-RX generator: timer, bracket, pantograph arm and tube head. The video shows the DC version, whose mechanics, arms and tube head are identical to those of the Owandy-RX AC.
Its microprocessor timer drove up to two tube heads and automatically corrected the exposure time according to mains fluctuations, for a constant dose and no repeat exposures. The one-piece light-alloy tube head, oil-immersed, housed the tube at the rear of the casing for a source-to-skin distance 50% greater than conventional designs; the pantograph arm, adjustable in height and depth, came in three lengths.

Single-phase · 70 kV · 8 mA · exposure time 0.08 to 3.2 s in 17 steps · duty cycle 1:32.
Microprocessor, automatic compensation of mains fluctuations · up to 2 tube heads · confirmed film / digital selection.
Toshiba DG-073 or CEI OX70 tube, 0.7 mm focal spot · 5.5 kg one-piece head, 300° rotation · increased source-to-skin distance.
Short 20 cm, long 31 cm, rectangular 44 × 35 mm (31 cm) · bisecting and paralleling techniques.
Pantograph arm in 3 lengths (40, 80, 110 cm) · high or low wall mounting · 50 kg mobile version · 19.5 kg wall-mounted set.
115 / 220 / 230 V, 50/60 Hz · class I type B · class IIb medical device · remote control on extendable cable > 2 m.

Frequently asked questions from Owandy-RX AC users.
Yes. The product has not been sold since August 2026 but it is still recent: parts, maintenance and exposure factor checks are provided by our network. Contact technical support and quote the serial number.
The user manual (September 2024 edition) is available above in French, English, Spanish, Italian, German and Portuguese.
Yes: the generator is compatible with film, digital sensors (ONE, Opteo) and phosphor plates (Owandy-CR). The timer offers separate exposure values for film and digital.
With the Owandy-RX DC, the high-frequency version: same arms, same cones and same ergonomics, with variable high voltage from 60 to 70 kV, exposure times accurate to 1/100th of a second and an optional wireless trigger.

The Owandy-RX DC keeps the frame, arms and cones of the AC version and moves to high frequency:
